Banyan Tree Group, one of the world’s leading multi-branded independent hospitality groups, has signed an MOU with La Quinta Real Estate Group to open Angsana Real de La Quinta Benahavis Marbella resort and residences in 2026. The project will include a hotel, branded residences, apartments and commercial spaces.

Beginning in 1994 as a sanctuary for the senses, Banyan Tree Holdings’ presence grew from a single resort hotel in Phuket, Thailand to become one of the world’s leading independent, multi-branded hospitality groups today. The group’s portfolio of hotels, resorts, spas, galleries, golf and residences is centered on five award-winning brands – Banyan Tree, Angsana, Cassia, Dhawa and Laguna – that offer exceptional design-led experiences for global travellers of today and tomorrow.

Banyan Tree Holdings was founded on the core concept of sustainability, a perfect fit for Real de La Quinta, the first urban development project in Spain to be certified by BREEAM. And also a perfect fit for Vista Lago Residences which occupies 6.5 hectares of the Real de La Quinta estate and whose developer, BRIGHT, holds sustainability issues at the core of their company mission, “Building for today without endangering tomorrow”. Banyan Tree Holdings’ purpose-driven mission is to breathe new life into places, spaces and experiences to serve the greater good.

Rooted in the ethos of “Embracing the Environment, Empowering People”, the Group places emphasis on the physical and human environment when making business decisions. The resorts and hotels are constructed in harmony with the natural surroundings, through thoughtful design and construction techniques.

Banyan Tree Holdings has received over 2.649 industry awards and accolades since its beginnings. It has also received recognition for its commitment to environmental protection and community development through its Banyan Tree Global Foundation (BTGF), which aligns the Group’s efforts to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Named after one of the most venerated trees in Asia, banyan trees can live for centuries, standing firmly, resilient against time and tide, a symbol of constancy in an ever-changing world. Its vast canopy provides shelter for weary travellers whilst its roots are deeply entrenched in its foundation, holding true to meaningful heritage with the memories of time gone by.
