Discover these viewpoints and immerse yourself in the exceptional scenery that makes Benahavís truly extraordinary.
Benahavís, nestled between the mountains and the Mediterranean, is renowned for its panoramic viewpoints, known as miradors. Each mirador offers an amazing perspective of the surrounding landscape which borders Marbella.
As BRIGHT edges closer to completing the award-winning Vista Lago Residences in the Real de La Quinta estate, it’s the perfect time to spotlight the most spectacular viewpoints in this unique area. This mountainous municipality is known for its pristine natural environment, dramatic scenery, and some of the most awe-inspiring vistas on the Costa del Sol.
1. Canyon of the Angosturas
The Canyon of the Angosturas (Cañon de la Angosturas) is one of Benahavís’s most stunning natural landmarks. This dramatic gorge carved by the Guadalmina River offers impressive views from above, as well as the chance to see swimmers and canyoners navigating the turquoise pools below. The surrounding hills provide elevated vantage points with exceptional perspectives of the water cutting through the rugged terrain.
One of the most iconic viewpoints from here is the vivid red pedestrian bridge, labelled “Sendero Acequia del Guadalmina” on Google maps. It’s a popular area for hiking, swimming, and photography, and the nearby Charca de los Tubos Mirador is suitable for parking.
2. Mirador Montemayor / Montemayor Castle
A hike to the ruins of Montemayor Castle rewards visitors with one of the most commanding views in the region. The castle, which once served to protect the coast from invaders, is perched at over 580 metres above sea level. From the ruins of this ancient fortress, you can gaze upon the 100km of coastline below, an outstretched horizon of the Mediterranean sea, as well as the surrounding mountains, and lush valleys. On clear days, it’s even possible to spot Gibraltar and Africa.
The trail is well-maintained and offers a mix of history and nature in one outing, though hikers should be warned that it is an extremely steep climb. Along the route is the Mirador Montemayor, a designated viewpoint with benches and tables, perfect for a picnic, offering expansive eastward vistas towards La Concha mountain.

3. Vista Lago, Real de La Quinta
Completing our selection is Vista Lago Residences, our latest development of 18 luxury villas in the gated community of Real de La Quinta. This exclusive enclave borders a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and sits just 15 minutes from Marbella centre, right between the famous estate of La Zagaleta and Marbella’s iconic La Concha mountain.
Perched 365 metres above sea level, each villa offers breathtaking views spanning the Mediterranean Sea, Gibraltar Straits, and the African coastline. From these elevated positions, residents enjoy uninterrupted vistas stretching from Marbella’s coast to the Rock of Gibraltar and Morocco’s Rif Mountains beyond.
Every villa at Vista Lago embraces the Spanish mirador concept, with layouts carefully oriented to maximise the best views from each room and terrace while ensuring complete privacy.
There are also lake views to be admired from here, from which Vista Lago gets its name. From the plot you not only see El Lago, the 35.000 m² leisure lake within the community, but also to the east, the magnificent Embalse de la Concepción reservoir which holds 57 million cubic meters of fresh water and supplies drinking water to approximately 450,000 people in the region.
Each of these miradors offers a distinct way to experience the natural splendour of Benahavís from above. As BRIGHT finalises the stunning Vista Lago Residences, these vistas continue to inspire the vision of blending modern living with breathtaking nature.
