Between travel logistics and pandemic restrictions, the coming summer season will not be like many others before. However, Marbella seems to be optimistic: party planning is fully underway, and restaurants are reviewing their cocktail menus to include lockdown survivor specials. Many of us might feel socially handicapped and not quite ready to mingle, but what better place could be there to start than a Marbella terrace with a stunning view? Eyes on the sunset, drink in hand – the future is BRIGHT ☺
Our selection of Marbella’s top five rooftop bars and restaurants:
Benabola Sky Lounge
Whether you’re experiencing Marbella for the first time, or count yourself as a local, the rooftop bar at Benabola Hotel, situated just off the entrance to Puerto Banús, is a must. With views across the marina to La Concha mountain in all its splendour, it is guaranteed to leave you in total awe. A perfect place to watch the sunset over and start the night with cocktails, it also offers breakfast to visitors – not just the hotel guests.
Air by Breathe
Breathe is a venue that has raised the bar for the modern dining experience for the entire area. With its vertical gardens, sleek design and an extensive sustainability effort, it manages to bring sophistication and a welcoming atmosphere together. Its rooftop bar, Air, offers comfortable seating areas and a DJ set to get you into the celebratory mood. Whether you choose to go one floor down into Breathe Restaurant Gastrobar & Garden or take a stroll into Puerto Banús afterwards, cocktails with a view at Air are guaranteed to kick the night off in style.
Pangea
Pangea is located at the far end of Puerto Banús and has been one of Marbella’s most luxurious nightlife venues for a while. This year it will host an opening party on May 1st, beginning a season of nightly events. From Thursday to Sunday these are organised by Sintillate, which means internationally renowned DJs and a “party like there’s never been a pandemic” atmosphere.
Terraza Skyline Bar by NH San Pedro
A bit of a hidden gem, the rooftop bar at NH San Pedro is a great place if you feel less like facing the trendy crowds and more like enjoying a relaxing cocktail in the sun or at sunset. With soft music, comfortable sofas and soothing views, this rooftop is a good one to keep in mind during the high season especially – there’ll always be a place!
Conmpasion Restaurant
Marbella’s Old Town might not count with many high rooftops, but it definitely has a lively terrace life, with Conmpasion restaurant being its highlight. With Mediterranean cuisine that fuses the traditional and modern, an extensive wine list and very enjoyable service, it is the perfect stopover on your walks around the Old Town’s narrow streets, whether for lunch, dinner or a quick coffee. Find it in Calle San Lázaro.
