Málaga’s newest sustainable attraction: the largest labyrinth in Spain

BRIGHT.

Here at BRIGHT, we can’t help but get excited when great design merges with sustainable development. This month, we look forward to the opening of Málaga’s newest attraction: Laberintus Park, Spain’s largest labyrinth! This hedge maze is located in the Antequera region, in a town called Humilladero, just 45 minutes from Málaga’s city centre.

On February 22, 2025, the park will be welcoming visitors to their innovative attraction which combines traditional design with cutting-edge sustainable technology, offering both entertainment and educational experiences. It’s great for the whole family and is pet friendly too, so no need to leave your four-legged friends at home!

Spanning over 7,400 square meters, the maze draws inspiration from the gardens of the Alhambra in Granada. Designed by renowned labyrinth creator Adrian Fisher, it features multiple routes of varying difficulty levels. Depending on the chosen path, visitors can navigate the maze in as little as 30 minutes or extend their adventure up to two hours long.

A standout feature of Laberintus Park is its biotechnological system. The nearly 8,000-meter walkway is equipped with bioreactors that generate energy and water from the earth. Additionally, biological activators respond to human touch, allowing plants to act as “biological antennae” that perceive frequency changes. This technology cultivates a unique connection between people and nature.

Beyond its recreational appeal, the park is committed to promoting environmental awareness. It offers a variety of activities, including escape games, adventure challenges, and educational workshops focused on sustainability. These programs are designed for families and school groups, emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship.

Auxi Gámez, the mayor of Humilladero, highlighted the park’s role in preserving the town’s traditional character while also promoting a modern vision for tourism. As both an economic and cultural hub, Laberintus Park is poised to put Humilladero on the map as a top destination in Málaga for innovative and sustainable travel experiences.

General admission to Laberintus Park is priced at €10 for adults and €7 for children aged 5 to 12. Children under 5 can enter free of charge. Tickets can be purchased online through the park’s official website or at the entrance on the day of your visit.
