Great design is an art form, and a great designer is as concerned with how we live as much as where we live. Our lifestyles are determined, not by mere chance, but by design, and this means, among other things, the design of the homes we live in and their surroundings. An exclusive development like Vista Lago Residences must therefore be designed to an unusual level of excellence.

VISTA LAGO DESIGN
EXCEPTIONAL DESIGN FOR AN EXCEPTIONAL LIFESTYLE
OVERALL CONCEPT
The concept behind this development is in its difference. It is different from any other built in Southern Europe, and all of the eighteen villas that make up the development, as well as the furniture and fittings in them, are different from each other. The commonality they share is that all are of the highest standard of construction and design, all display a level of innovation and creativity that helps turn a development of luxury villas into a world class work of architectural and interior design, and all have views of the Mediterranean, the Rock of Gibraltar and the continent of Africa beyond.
THE DESIGNERS
BRIGHT, partnered with UDesign, an award-winning architectural and interior design firm established in Marbella in 2008, is the developer behind Vista Lago. With vast experience in designing luxury houses in various part of the world, the UDesign architects, along with renowned Marbella-based architects, Gonzalez & Jacobson, have designed innovative and environmentally sustainable villas that are an integral part of the land upon which they were built. Luxury minimalism would be a reasonable description of the style used, where nothing is excess and nothing gets in the way of the unique view these villas offer.
EXCLUSIVITY
A definition of exclusivity is having what few others have. Even without the magnificent views, Vista Lago would qualify as exclusive, but with them, the development takes exclusivity to a different level. Each of the eighteen villas has been designed to take maximum advantage of the elevation, orientation and natural light.
INDIVIDUALLY DESIGNED VILLAS
Interior design does not accurately describe how these interiors were designed, because that suggests a group of designers coming in once construction work is finished and designing the interiors. Nothing could be further from the truth. These interiors grew with the building itself, in some cases preceding it, with some rooms designed around a single piece of furniture that existed before the villa itself was designed. Each of the 18 villas has been individually designed and clients can choose both the villa they want and the furniture and fittings in it, or in any of the other villas. There is a contemporary style to suit everyones’ taste, from bold and bright, to elegant and classical.
INTERIOR LAYOUT
“Inside each villa,” Jason Harris, CEO and Creative Director of UDesign, says, “nothing stands in the way of the view. The windows slide into the wall, to bring the living area out into the terrace, becoming an extension of the house itself. Even closed, you see very little of the window frame. All are open plan, with no walls in the living spaces and columns reduced to the minimum. Our design philosophy is to devote as much thought, cost and innovation to the interior of the houses as the exteriors. And all the furniture in the villas has been chosen or designed exclusively for them, either by UDesign or by other top designers, and is thus unavailable on the open market.”
OUTSIDE LIVING
All the villas have large terraces with different areas for different activities, from sunbathing to dining to sipping drinks in the shade. All have ample gardens and infinity pools – in this case, true infinity pools where the view from the pool is of the Mediterranean Sea and nothing in between. And all the gardens are big enough for herb and vegetable plots, if so desired. The architects were anxious to work closely with the natural surroundings, and each plot is big enough to do that comfortably.
ATTENTION TO DETAIL
There is no area of any of the eighteen villas that has not been meticulously thought about, analysed and designed accordingly, and each area, however small, has been designed to form an essential part of the whole. The domotics and general illumination is world-class, making each house a smart home. The master suites are comparable with the best that any five-star hotel can offer. The open plan kitchens allow for effortless flow both back into the house and out onto the terrace. And each villa has space available for its own gymnasium, entertainment room and office.
