Málaga is Europe’s ‘Best Destination’ for Nomadic Executives

BRIGHT.

Málaga has firmly established itself as Europe’s top destination for nomadic executives, holding third place globally after Dubai and Abu Dhabi, according to the latest Savills ranking. For the second consecutive year, Málaga has secured a spot among the top three most attractive destinations in the Savills global index for “nomadic executives.”

With the news out not so long ago that the Digital Nomad Report had ranked Spain as the Nº1 destination for remote workers, this news just in from Savills global index places Málaga in the spotlight again.

In addition to quality of life, the Savills Nomadic Executive Index ranks the destinations according to variables such as internet speed, prime rental prices and climate.

The popularity is not surprising, considering Málaga’s unique blend of lifestyle, culture, and affordability, combined with the Spanish digital nomad visa which has made the relocation process a lot easier for executives that can work from anywhere, and their families looking for a better quality of life.

Typically nomadic executives are older than digital nomads

A nomadic executive has a different profile from a digital nomad, usually they are older and have families, so naturally their choice of location will depend on daily lifestyle needs such as good health care, easy access to education and of course a secure living environment. Málaga fits the bill for all these lifestyle needs.

Not just a paradise for tourists, Málaga has evolved into a sophisticated, executive-friendly city. The city’s appeal lies in its ability to cater to a more mature demographic who value space, safety, and strong local services.

In a recent article in Sur in English, José Perez-Peña, the Director of Savills Andalucía spoke about the positioning of the city on the international scene and the need to create new housing for rent and purchase:

“Málaga has consolidated its position as a preferred destination for people who can work remotely most of the time and this is very positive. This progress is the result of a constant joint effort to position the city on the international scene. Collaboration to continue evolving without losing our identity and quality of life continues to be our greatest strength to continue improving infrastructure, services and, above all, to adequately anticipate the current and future need for housing supply for the different population profiles. Both for those who already live in Málaga and for those who the city will continue to attract to spend long periods of time or live permanently, it is necessary to create new housing for rent and purchase,” he added.

Recent surveys have exemplified the rising adoration in public opinion, such as the aforementioned Global Digital Nomad Report, which ranked Spain as the Nº1 Destination for Digital Nomads, and our home municipality of Marbella being voted the European Best Destination 2024, along with last years Forbes Survey crowning Málaga as World’s Best City to Live.

Reinforced by the national push to attract global talent, more and more people are discovering that Málaga is more than just a beautiful coastal city; it’s a dynamic, evolving hub where nomadic executives can thrive personally and professionally, solidifying its place as Europe’s premier destination for remote working.

With the area being catapulted into part of the global mainstream discourse for not just visiting, but also for long-term relocation, Málaga’s comprehensive appeal—from lifestyle to logistics—places it at the forefront when it comes to investing in property and business development.
